Adam

A Night at the Theater

by GylzGirl

Adam Klaus has just finished his show at the Orphiem Theater in San Francisco. Bored, you sit in your best evening gown and heels (the ones he told you to wear) in his dressing room, idly spinning in his swivel chair, waiting for him so you can leave. The applause dies and you wait for 20 minutes. Soon you don't even hear the backstage bustle anymore. You hear the sound of the power switch being thrown then suddenly the room's light dims. Very convinced Adam has strolled off with some floozy, forgotten all about you and left you to be locked in all night, you storm to the door. You open it and find the hallway to the stage. It's darker than the dressing room, so dark you can just barely make out your way.

You head for the stage, more certain you can find your way out from there. Pulling apart the stage curtains, you peek out and finding the house dark and empty you carefully head out on stage hoping you don't fall off the edge, wherever that may be. Five steps out, a spotlight snaps on, pointed right at you. You jump, a bit startled and block the light with your hand, trying to scan the booth for a certain soon-to-be-deceased illusionist. Half-blinded, you call out, "Adam?"

Soon a veil of blue silk falls over your eyes, an all too familiar voice giggles lightly in your ear. "Shh, you're spoiling my trick."

"Adam, I..." You feel his lips on yours, at first you're too mad to respond but as soon as you do he pulls away.

"Are you going to let me finish my trick?" You don't answer, simply pinching your lower lip between your teeth. He knows you well enough to accept that as a yes. "Good. Now I'm going to spin you around three times and then I'll take off the blindfold."

"Adam, you can't spin me in these heels. I'll fall."

"You know I won't let you. Now, are you ready?" You nod affirmatively. He spins you tightly in his arms, his hands sliding across your side, back, side, and stomach and resting there. "One," he kisses you. He spins you again, holding you slightly tighter. "Two," and kisses again. He spins you once more, slowly, "Three." He removes the scarf and kisses you before your eyes have time to adjust.

Adam pulls back and you can see he is wearing a tuxedo. You also see that the once bare stage has been reset. Before you sits a magnificent candlelight dinner for two, silver and crystal settings and lace linens. Further upstage you see a massive, ornately carved oak four-poster bed. "Relax Love, theater's closed till tomorrow. That leaves us plenty of time."

You turn to look at him coyly, "For?"

"Dinner. Dancing." He snaps his fingers and soft violin music pipes into the hall. "Dessert." He produces a white rose from nowhere and hands it to you. "It's beauty does not compare." Some part of you inside loves him most when he's this way, spouting pick-up lines when you've already been along for the ride for a long time now. He pulls the chair out for you. You sit and as he scoots you in, he kisses your neck and you know this night will be true magic.
