Adam

Resolutions

by GylzGirl

You're leaning against the rail of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, looking at your image in the surface of the bay. You see Adam's face appear in the water just behind you. You turn and smile. It is late December and you've forgotten your jacket back at the hotel. Adam unzips his oversize jacket and opens the front, embracing you in both his arms and the garment. Your arms encircle his waist beneath his coat.

"You'll catch your death Love."

"Sorry. I just decided to go for a walk. Didn't think about it being that cold till I got closer to the bay."

He kisses the end of your nose and smiles. "Your nose is cold."

"Does that mean I'm a healthy puppy?"

Adam gives your bottom a light smack and then squeezes you tightly. "So what's going on in that busy brain in that pretty head of yours?"

"I don't know. Just thinkin'. About the new year I guess."

"The Millennium?"

"It's not."

"Pardon?"

"It's not the Millennium. You have to have 1000 complete years for a millennium. This is only 999."

"You're not going all Librarian on me are you?"

You kiss his stubbly chin. "Don't make fun just because my parents owned an Encyclopedia set."

"So did mine. Doesn't mean I actually read the silly thing."

"Still, year 2000 though. Kinda wild. All those zero's make you think."

He kisses your temple and nuzzles into your hair. "About?"

"Where the substance lies in your life."

You can feel Adam smile. "Translation for the non-Encyclopedia reader?"

"Deciding what's important to you. You know? Bringing to the surface the irritations and angers that hold you back, acknowledging them and then letting them go. Not allowing them to take up any more of your time or attention." You place a kiss on his neck and feel him breathe sharply. "Paying attention to what really matters."

"Like?"

"Like my job, my family, my real friends." You look up into the timeless green of his eyes. "My love."

"Sounds like you've been doing a lot of thinking."

"It seemed like the time for it. I mean, New Year's is less than a week away."

"I've been thinking too," Adam says.

"Yes?"

"I've been thinking that maybe we might...sorta...move in together?"

"You want me to move to England?"

"I want you to move in to my house in England and I want to move into your house here. With my schedule, it's entirely possible to live in both places. I just want us to live in those places together. When I go home and you're not there, I feel like I'm missing something."

You lean your head against his chest. "I don't know what to say."

"Well, yes would be my vote."

"Of course yes!"

Adam leans down and kisses you tenderly. "Good. Now let's get back to the hotel so that we have time to warm each other up properly before the show tonight." You slip your hand into the back pocket of his jeans as you walk back to your room.
