Amusement Park
You are walking hand in hand with Oliver down the crowded street. You feel his eyes upon you. You turn your head. "What?"
"What what?"
"What's with the look?"
"What look?"
"You were giving me a definite look."
"Was I?" He says in a bored tone.
"It was a sort of "why am I here, how do I kill her, and where can I hide the body?" kind of look."
Oliver gets an evil looking grin. "You know me so well. Why are we here again?"
You turn in midstride, holding his arms and looking into his eyes intently. "Okay, stay with me on this one. It's going to be a difficult concept for you to grasp. See, this is called an amusement park. People come here to have," you look both ways to make sure no one is listening, leaning closer to him and whispering, "fun."
Oliver is not amused. Oliver is looking rather more annoyed. He also looks like he's finally figured out where to hide your body. "We're not meeting a contact here then?"
You resume leading him further into the park. "Nope."
"Well then what's the point? It's the first break we've had in a long while. We could go up to the cabin or...ooh."
"Ooh?" You stop. He is looking up, nearly gawking or as close as you have ever seen him come to that. You follow his gaze. He is staring at a towering, twisting track of green metal a large sign is advertising as "The Medusa". You're not one for the roller coasters, normally, but this does seem to have captured his interest. "You um, you want to..." he is already leading you by the hand towards it.
The line was abnormally short for a roller coaster, only about a ten minute wait. Almost like some cruel laughing higher power planned for it. Your hands are sweating. You've barely looked at Oliver, whose excited smile has grown with each step, keeping up with your trepidation. When you have looked at him, it was with a quick, tight smile. Then you went back to looking at the ride, and contemplating. They open the gate and Oliver practically drags you to the car.
You are sitting there, breathing heavily, trying to think of some way you can ditch out without Oliver being upset with you. He pulls the lapbar down just over your legs. You hear it snap-lock, and you gulp. You can feel Oliver smiling at you, but this time you're not looking. You can't believe you're freaking out this bad. You've been on coasters before. Okay, not this high, or this twisty, or any that went upside down. The car lurches as it begins its long slow climb up the first hill.
Oliver puts his arm around your shoulders, his hand rubbing your arm comfortingly. "I thought you said people came to these places to have fun?"
"I did."
"You look as though you're about to go into cardiac arrest."
"Couldn't get that lucky."
"Would you relax? Try to get into this?"
"I'm trying, I'm...oh no...oh god Oliver, we're so high up..." You are reaching the top. You are cringing against him, your hand gripping the lapbar so tight, your knuckles are bright white.
He kisses your temple. "Let go of the bar."
"I can't."
"You can. You can do anything. Now let go of the bar." You unpeel your hand and let it fall listlessly into your lap. "Good girl. Now I want you to put your arms straight up in the air, like this." He extends his arms straight over his head. You shakily follow suit.
You are just about to go over the edge. You can feel the fear being joined by a new emotion, maybe...excitement. "Now what do I do?!"
"SCREAM!"
"What!?" Could that suggestion have just come from Oliver Sampson's mouth?
"I said scream!" You topple over the edge. The sound of Oliver yelling at the top of his lungs emboldens you, not to mention the sheer terror you are feeling as your stomach drops out from under you. Scream you do, loudly and longly. You enter the first corkscrew turn and your hands have come back down to grip the bar, but your eyes are wide open. Oliver kisses your cheek, replaces his arm behind your back, holding your hands atop the bar. As you enter the first upside down loop, you are almost positive you hear Oliver Sampson giggle. You wish you had time to ponder it, but you are back to screaming again.
After what seems like an eternity to you, the car pulls back into the station. You are tucked rather snugly into Oliver's arm, and smile up at him. "Well that was certainly worth it."
"Why's that Love?" He gives you a big hug and kisses you on the lips as you wait for the lapbar to lift.
"I finally found the thing that turns Oliver Sampson into a rowdy giddy teenage boy again."
"Yes well take a picture, cause I don't think you'd survive going on these as often as I'd like to."
"I'm fine. I just needed to get used to it." The lapbar rises. Oliver steps out and reaches his hand back to you to help you out.
"So you'd be willing to go on more of these with me?"
"Sure."
"All day?"
You grin up at him. "Anything to see you like that some more."
"Sounds great, but first the boat ride."
"You don't have to do that just cause you know I like them."
"Oh I'm not, not exclusively at least. That ride goes into a tunnel, stays there for quite a while." His hand has slid around to your hip, squeezing you to him.
"Oh yes? Nice and dark then?"
"Oh yes. I figure we should pay it a visit several times today."
"I think I can handle that."
"I sincerely hope so," he says with a devilish look. As you walk toward the Tunnel of Love, he kisses you...
