ABH

ABH Archive Submission Guidelines

The rules for having your ABH archived here are listed below. I know it seems like a lot, but they're are all really very simple, very important points:

1. No Actor Fic. This means Anthony Head cannot be the subject of your ABH. This is fiction only. It can only be fictional characters.

2. Your ABH must co-star (along with "you") a character portrayed by Anthony S. Head.

3. ABH's must be written in the second person ("You and Oliver are in London.") and preferably in the present tense for the most part. This is the format of this archive. If you're unsure about this, write and tell me your situation and I'll see what you have. Also, see Search and Replace ABH at the end of the rules.

4. ABH's must be of readable quality. This means new paragraphs with each speaker, paragraphs separated by actual spaces, spell-checked at least minimally, no formatting problems.

5. ABH's must be rated according to the movie ratings system (I go by US, but I can figure out UK or AUS). Stories here fall into two major catagories, General and Adult. Adult requires warnings, therefore I must know the rating.

6. Tell me how you want your name credited. I need you to provide an actual author name. Don't just assume I can figure it out from your email address unless I know you personally.

7. You ABH must be titled. Don't stress over an ABH title. When I started, it sometimes took longer to title it then it did to write the thing. A good rule of thumb is read your fic over and grab the first suitable title that pops into your head.

8. If you use songs or excerpts or the like in your ABH, there needs to be appropriate crediting.

9. Do not send me your ABH as an attachement unless you have been given prior permission to do so. Attachments I am not expecting will be deleted unread as possible viruses.

Search and Replace ABH's: Occasionally, an ABH will become so complex or lengthy that a simple "You" isn't going to be sufficient to carry the story. For these times, many of us, me included, have had to place an actual character name into the fic as a placeholder in order to better construct the story. Since many of the people who will read from here possess the technology to conduct a search and replace on your fic with either their word processor program or other software, they can then substitute their name for the placholder name in the story. These stories also are frequently written past-tense and in more traditional story style. These types of fics will be archived here based on the following criteria:

1. The feel of the placeholder character must still be that of an ABH heroine. No identifying descriptions, especially of physical appearance should be given. The exceptions being occupation, hobby, and clothing. Remember, the reader must be able to be the heroine.

2. The placeholder name will be changed to the reader's own using a search and replace function. This means that the placeholder name should be uniquely a "name". Don't call them Hope Spring for example, because if reader Gloria Reynolds does her search/replace on your fic, she may have people living in Gloria of a better future; or see people drinking at a nearby fresh water Reynolds. Think ahead. Also, unless they're marrying someone, don't make their name (first or last) the same as any peripheral character in the ABH or else the reader will wind up changing the identity of more than who was intended. Keep the spelling consistant. And if you issue a diminutive or nickname holder, follow the same principles.

E-mail me to discuss submissions. (You will need to remove "spammenot" from the address.)
