I read Book 1 a few months after the movie came out. I had started it before but then I decided I didn't want to spoil the movie for myself. Actually, after the movie, I finished books 1-4. It was a glorious summer. Until I realized it would be MONTHS (almost a year actually) before the next book would be out, and I'd have seen Chamber of Secrets become a film too by then. Oh well. Book 5 was worth the wait. I'm definately hooked and plan to reread all the books before Prisoner of Azkaban hits theaters.

As for fanfic, I read a lot of it. I think I started out a Harry/Hermione shipper. But now I think I'm leaning toward Ron/Hermione. I mean, he gets so worked up over her doesn't he? :) Besides, that leaves the door open for Harry/Ginny. And that would make Harry a real Weasley, by marriage. Which is a big yea in my book. I haven't really been bitten by the bug to write fic for this fandom, though I think that may change with the end of book 7. If she's not gonna tell us how their lives go after Hogwarts, I can feel the need to tell those stories :) This may change now that Tonks has come into the picture though. Tonks, or as a lot of us are coming to know her, 'Yea! An interesting female character of age to date the cute teachers (Lupin, Snape, etc.)'. So far though, I've only been inspired to an occasional wallpaper.
