![]() SNARED Being a SW fan since I was 4, I never gave much thought as to pairings. I liked Han/Leia. Han/Leia happened. There really weren't any other featured girls ('cept maybe Mon Mothma...and that brought up weird Admiral Ackbar pairings). And all was right with the land. Then came the Prequels. And the internet. Now I can understand where my penchant for Padme/Obi came from. Hayden Christiansen's a nice enough looking fellow and all, but he's very young looking. Also, I just don't feel as sympathetic towards Anakin as I thought I would going in. So of course, I'm gonna pair the female lead to the male lead I find more appealing. That's one of the nice things fanfic lets you do. How I wound up with Qui/Obi tendencies is beyond even me. It was one of those pairings that made me go "What?" when I first heard it. But unlike some folks who immediately launch a hate campaign for that kind of thing, I went off right away and found some to read. I wanted to see if it read as squicky as it had first sounded to me. Damned stupid talented writers at Master/Apprentice anyway. What they made me see was that there was love between the characters, onscreen. And of course, that didn't necessarily mean slash, but it didn't exactly bar it either. I think I spent every night for two weeks solid over at the M/A Archive. And when the smoke cleared, I had one finished fic, and one unfinished (as yet). It just goes to show how disgustingly romantic I am. Give me two characters talking sweet nothings and it can overcome just about anything. Except perhaps those Admiral Ackbar issues. Yeesh.
